St Lucas obviously wanted to join the web 2.0 revolution with their clean but obviously-a-template web design. The feel of the site didn't really match the feel of the church. I wanted to take the website where I can tell they were trying to go, but keep the beauty and feel of the church where possible. I try and do this by using warm colors and an elegant typeface, which maintains the buildings feel. The gradients and design give the website its new feel.

UPDATE:CLICK HERE TO SEE THE PAGE

Here we have another Art 381 assignment: The Lawn Art Webpage.

I've chosen to highlight "classy" lawn art. (Click the images to make them bigger) The page on the right is the main page. I chose to do a horizontal navigation scheme with large thin images. Rollovers are used, displaying witty titles pertaining to the content (the "dog" category is shown mouse-overed). The background behind the table will be a dark to light gray, so I repeated a lighter variation on the masthead. Grass plays in front of the title to get the lawn theme across. Teal is juxtaposed upon the dark brown-green for a bold and bright body color, especially against the dark gray gradient background (not shown).

On the left is one of the 4 2nd-tier pages. This is the dog page. Matching masthead and "go back" button text treatments tie the page together from top to bottom. Frames on pictures make the photos stand out from the rest of the page. White text on a gray rounded-rectangle helps catch the users eye when scanning for a visual hierarchy, the text being high in importance.

Overall I am happy with my design.

Here is my idea for the art club website. My features are corn, a colorful textured background, and the sky. I felt like the minimalist design left the attention to be given to the content. Highlighted boxes draw attention to information people who don't want to read much can look to in order to find out what they need to know. Corn, being the mysterious foundation of the USI Art Club, holds down the bottom.

I feel like my design might change before the creation of the actual page, as I'm not sure how good this page would look on a widescreen monitor, and the page seems vertically lacking.

my purpose of this blog isn't to have other people read it, which i know sort of makes this part hypocritical, but i feel like i aught to put it in. i like to think of it more as an open journal for anyone to come and see if they want.
